The LGBTQ+ community in the United States is constantly evolving, as are the social, political, cultural, economic, and linguistic frameworks that influence LGBTQ+ peoples' lives. In today's seminar, we will discuss what LGBTQ+ means, who is included under the LGBTQ+ umbrella, how to use language respectfully and knowledgeably to talk about LGBTQ+ people, and how historical and contemporary context have shaped the LGBTQ+ community as it is today.
