Though well known as the baseball player who integrated modern major league baseball in 1947, Jackie Robinson is often overlooked as the catalyst of America's civil rights movement. This course will examine Robinson's life in the context of the times in which he lived and will explore his struggles and accomplishments against the backdrop of the existing social structure.
