Architect Frank Lloyd Wright proposed the adjective Usonian instead of American to describe his vision of buildings using natural materials, an open concept and energy efficiency. The last decades of his long career focused on this design and his solution for middle class affordable houses. The Usonian house displays organic architecture at its best and easily adapts to a 21st century family’s lifestyle. Wright also coined the word carport to describe an overhang for sheltering a parked vehicle.
