ID : 1779
« back to classes page
During America’s Civil War, the United States government made promises to a people it had recently freed from bondage. Among them was the promise of the full privileges of citizenship, a promise that has yet to be honored. The results of that broken promise exist today. Yet numerous Black military units and individuals have contributed to the success and security of the nation since its inception. This presentation traces the contributions of these lesser known military units and individuals.
